Should I apply for studying in Germany?

By

My personal answer: YES, and why not? Just like you would apply for other countries like the USA, Australia, Sweden, the UK, and New Zealand, why not Germany? Just because you might have to learn German? Here are my pros for you to answer this question!

  1. Germany offers you cheaper education.
This is my favorite reason. I won’t deny it, and yes, there is no doubt about this. Many German universities offer tuition-fee-free education to you. You will be only paying something called Semesterbeitrag which is nothing but the semester fee. This won’t cost you more than 450€ for a semester. Given that you study a master’s in Germany and you need 5-6 semesters, you just pay less than 3000€ for 3 years to graduate from a master’s course!
  2. Job-search visa.
One of the many reasons I keep telling people to come to Germany is that the German government offers you a handsome time-period of 18 months to look for a job after the completion of your graduation. You can relax, chill, find a job, or go and travel, and then come back to do your job search in this massive period of time. I’ve been living in Germany for 10 years now, and I have never ever met one person who did not or could not find a suitable job in these 18 months.
  3. Health insurance always got you covered.
My second favorite reason is that you are fully covered in case you end up being sick, or getting yourself into a situation that requires medical assistance and care. Your health insurance takes good care of you. As a student, there is plenty of wonderful health insurance offers that you can take and sit back and chill. Once I had to get my wisdom teeth (all four of them) removed as they were terribly painful. My insurance covered each and every single penny.
  4. Freedom to choose your life and course.
You are flexible here! Period. You get to enroll yourself in a course that can be finished in either 2 years or a max. of 4 years. Isn’t that just great? You can choose to do one or multiple side jobs to support yourself financially, or do internships, attend lectures, take exams that might be of interest but out of your course, and take your time to complete your studies. There is no stress here. You can even take a semester off if you would like to take a break and go for a peaceful time out.
