3 best WEBSITES (apps) for GERMAN

By

I began learning German in 2013 when I came to Germany. The biggest trouble for me was carrying a dictionary everywhere. It was simply not possible. Moreover, it would not help in all situations as I needed example sentences in order to know how to use a particular word in a particular situation and the dictionary didn’t offer me that. Moreover, German words that mean something used individually suddenly become something else when used with other words collectively. If you have even tried to learn German you know what I mean. Here’s a list of 3 websites (and apps) that I swear will help you solve your problem.

DeepL

It is by far – literally – the best and the most accurate translator, at least from German to English and vice-versa. I often use it to formulate Emails, messages, and other (un-)official texts when I have to write in German. You can also upload your German documents to get translated documents in English. You can also buy to access other services and features of DeepL.

Leo

I won’t be lying when I say that I have used this website like a thousand times already. I even used it to help my mother learn German, at an age of 60. This website not only gives you the meanings of nouns but also shows you examples of how a particular word is used in a particular context.

Linguee

This is yet another website I have used multiple times. It can be used to look up the meanings and usage in sentences. What I like here is that it provides a lot of examples including big texts using the word you have entered in your search area. Did you know, DeepL was launched by the same people who made Linguee?
