When you’re traveling alone you probably don’t need to worry about unexpected situations. As an adult or a group of adults, you can handle almost every single situation that life throws at you.

When you’re traveling with kids, it’s different. Especially when you’re traveling with small kids and you don’t really have enough experience. Anything and everything that goes unplanned is a challenge. Having small kids and traveling is a crazy combination in itself, if you’re a parent and you’ve traveled with your young ones, you know what I mean.

So here’s a thing. Everyone just like me might tell you and give you different ideas and tips when you travel with your kids but remember, what suits you the best is the best for you and your kids. You can take the tips and use them at your own convenience.

1. Do not have high expectations. Expectations might kill the reality. In my honest and personal opinion, they make reality harder to digest. The lesser you expect the better it becomes.

2. Try to travel light. At least pack fewer things for yourself and your partner if not for your kids. Believe me, it’s going to save you a lot of hassle during the journey and the stay.

3. Don’t look at any unwanted situation or a bad experience as a bad vacation. Look at it as something that is going to make you a better parent and will add another chapter to the Book of your experiences with your kids.

4. Frequency is the key. The more you travel or spend time with your kids outside your house, the more experiences you make. And the more experiences you make, the better you get at handling unwanted and unexpected situations. Practice make parents perfect…umm… I mean we can’t be perfect so. Let’s just say if not perfect then at least a bit better than before. 😉

5. Accept that traveling with kids is different than traveling without kids. It is indeed difficult at times to have all your energy and focus on the tiny little beings. But it’s a whole lot more interesting, fun, and exciting when you have new human beings in your life because at the end of the day they bring all the happiness and love into your life.
