Ich bin ‘oder’ Mir
Here’s the very first blog article of my series German language learning tips. In this blog-post series, I will share with you tips that have helped me to learn, memorize and improve my German language, vocabulary, and grammar over the past 9 years. I hope that these tips help you in understanding the nitty-gritty of the German language and you can finally come out of the negative spiral that German is difficult. It is not if you are on the right path of learning!
If you are feeling cold, or warm, or bored you do not say:
✘ Ich bin kalt.
✘ Ich bin warm.
✘ Ich bin langweilig. [langweilig = bored/boring depending upon the context]
Most of us would think this is the correct way of saying as it would word-to-word translate to:
I am cold.
I am warm.
I am boring. [This is completely different from what you would want to say 😉 ]
Instead, you would say:
✅ Mir ist kalt. – to me it is cold.✅ Mir ist warm. – to me it is warm.✅ Mir ist langweilig. – to me it is boring.
Muchlove & strength!
